We are excited to announce our 2022 Photo Tour schedule! This year, we will be keeping it close to home with 4 very special photo tours to our favorite bear destinations on the planet. Our priority is to help you build a wonderful trip portfolio, provide expert coaching and support, and to make the experience special and memorable.

Khutzeymateen Photo Tour, May 9-13

For our Khutzeymateen photo tour we travel to Canada’s only grizzly bear sanctuary. From the moment you arrive, you realize that you are truly in nature. In this protected land, grizzly bears thrive. With the highest concentration of spring time grizzly bears in Canada, there are so many amazing photography opportunities. If you love bears, you need to put the Khutzeymateen on your bucket list.

The floating lodge itself is one of a kind. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the rooms are very comfortable and cozy. During our down time, you can fish from the dock, relax in the sauna, or sit by the wood fire. Come for some of the best grizzly bear photography in Canada, and leave with memories that will last a lifetime.

Katmai Bears Photo Tour, August 7-14

For the Katmai Bears photo tour, we bring you to our favorite wildlife destination on the planet. The photography opportunities are unparalleled. Imagine watching a brown bear dive for salmon right in front of you. It’s moments like this that will stay with you forever.

When you come on this tour, two things will happen. First, you perception of bears will change forever. Second, all other bear photography opportunities will not seem the same. The close access we are afforded in Katmai opens the door to so many compositional opportunities.

August is the best time at our location because it coincides with the annual sockeye salmon run, where the creeks glow bright red from the schools of salmon passing through. The salmon is what draws the bears who are preoccupied with eating as many calories as possible before the harsh winter months. Join us for a trip of a lifetime!

Spirit Bears Photo Tour, Sept 19-23

For our Spirit Bears photo tour, you will journey with us into the heart of the Great Bear rainforest, in the traditional territory of the Gitga’at First Nation, to watch and photograph one of the rarest bears in the world. Spirit bears, or Kermode bears, are a sub-species of black bears that possess a double recessive gene that gives them their white fur. It’s estimated that there are fewer than 400 of these bears left in the wild.

Imagine the most beautiful moss covered landscape, ancient cedar trees, and amidst this spectacular scenery, a shining white bear emerges from the dark forest. Seeing a spirit bear in the wild is a profound experience. Words cannot do justice to describe this experience of these magical bears fishing for salmon right in front of you. It’s unlike any other bear experience on the planet. Join us in the very best location and the best time of year to see spirit bears and create photographs that you will cherish forever!

Polar Bear Photo Tour, November 2022

Polar bear season may have just ended, but already we can’t wait for it to return!

For our Churchill Polar Bear photo tour, you will photograph one of the world’s most iconic animals up close and on foot. We have been traveling to Churchill for many years and we love it. The town itself has its own unique charm and the polar bear viewing is world class.

As the temperatures drop in early November, polar bears congregate along the shorelines near Churchill in anticipation of Hudson Bay freezing over, which is necessary for them to hunt. This is the best time of year to see the most polar bears. We may also see the aurora, foxes, ptarmigans, and more wildlife if we’re lucky.

Our dates are still being finalized and we look forward to sharing this special experience with you!

Bear Photography Guide

Lastly, I’m putting together a free bear photography guide to help you make the best choices when you’re in the field. Are there any particular questions you have or things that you would like to know?

Please contact us if you have any questions about any of our tours and we look forward to sharing these incredible experiences with you!
